Honu 70.3 2026: the fourth one
Full swim distance, the wind off the water on the road to Hawi, and a 42-minute swim for Michelle that was faster than mine.
Four Junes in the lava for me now: 6:48, 5:26, 5:44, and 5:54:48 this year. Three for Michelle: 6:40, 6:44, and 6:59:03. The swim was the full distance again, and the wind on the road to Hawi came off the water the way it does every year, with no way to know how hard until you're riding into it.
The card has the pieces: for me a 45-minute swim, 2:57 on the bike, and a 1:58 half, and for Michelle a 42-minute swim, which was faster than mine, 3:27 on the bike, and a 2:34 run. That was twelfth and fourteenth in the age groups. It wasn't the fastest Honu for either of us, and after the 2025 season we weren't really expecting it to be. What we were expecting was to be on the start line at Waikoloa at first light, and we were, because this is the race we don't skip.
The next one is Northern California in August.
