Kailua Beach Shark Chase 2024: slower on purpose

The beach run, second year. Eight minutes slower than 2023 and two seconds apart, which tells you whose day it wasn't.

We finished in 55:36 and 55:38, eight minutes slower than the year before and two seconds apart, and I'm not sorry about either number. This was a week after the Kaena Point Firecracker and six weeks after Honu, in the part of the summer where the calendar is short, fun, and on sand, and neither of us raced it. Should we have raced it? Probably not, and I didn't have it in me anyway, so that question answered itself. We both came fourth in our age groups regardless, because it was July, and sand doesn't care what you did in June.
