Val Nolasco Half 2024: 2:08 on a check day
2:08:08, a half PR by four minutes, a month out from the marathon. It was supposed to be a check.
The rule for this race is to run it as a check, and I ran it as a check, or at least I'm fairly sure I did. Then I came through in 2:08:08, which is a half-marathon PR by four minutes over the Hibiscus 2:12 that this whole site keeps bringing up. So was it a check or a race? It felt like a check to me, as I wasn't chasing anything and the legs just had more in them than the legs I brought to Hibiscus, and a month out from the marathon, finding that out was what the day was for. I'll take the PR as a bonus and not ask too many questions about it.
Jay ran 1:44:44, a few seconds off the year before, which is exactly what a check is supposed to look like, and mine looked like a PR instead. I was a little confused by that, but I did enjoy it. Four weeks later came the marathon, where both of us found out what the year had been for.
